The Mather Homestead

The Mather Homestead is Darien, Connecticut's only registered National Historic Landmark. The home was passed through six generations of the Mather family from 1778 until 2017 when the home and property were opened to the public as a museum. The sunken garden was designed in 1909 by the famed landscape architect Walter Burleigh Griffin who went on to design Canberra, Australia's capital city.
